Fuck Pixar and fuck Brave.

Paranorman should have won for so many reasons. Everybody holds Pixar on a pedestal because they pioneered the 3D animation industry. We get it, Toy Story was a breakthrough. We get it, they basically monopolize the animation industry at this point. But CHRIST, they’re like the Wal Mart of animation companies. Starts out as a small business that does good shit and makes customers happy but eventually bloats into a gigantic behemoth that pretty much owns everything and everybody.

Paranorman was such a new and fresh thing and introduced new ideas in both animation and storytelling. THEY USED 3D PRINTING FOR GAD’S SAKE! Brave was just another re-hashed fairytale that only got as far as it did because the art and animation looked ‘pretty’.

Paranorman was more than pretty. It made WAVES. It made animation HISTORY. It made me ugly-face cry for 20 minutes after the ending credits.

It makes me so angry that the animation award ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS goes to flipping Pixar. It’s like nobody even votes anymore. No wonder John Lasseter’s so pudgy. He’s probably gettin’ content sitting on his big pile of ‘Cars 2’ money.
